Youth brought before a judge or magistrate at the Juvenile Court of Memphis & Shelby County are eligible to participate. This includes youth who are currently on pre-adjudicatory electronic monitoring devices. The Pursuit Center also accepts youths referred to its program by staff from the Juvenile Court’s Children’s Bureau. In lieu of confinement at the juvenile detention center or placement with the Juvenile Court’s Children’s Bureau, participants can be referred to the Pursuit Center as an alternative.

The program consists of tutoring in core academic areas such as English and Math. There is also an emphasis on mental health to address underlying issues that may affect the youth’s conduct. Additionally, the program incorporates intensive mentoring services to cultivate positive social interactions, create community service opportunities and divert the students from destructive behaviors.
Participants are placed in cohorts that last for 30 days. As a cohort, youth participants are required to attend the program five (5) days a week from 4:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
Transportation is provided for students that align with applicable Tennessee Student Transportation laws or Shelby County Schools’ transportation guidelines.
