Behavioral Health Services networks with agencies such as Alliance Healthcare Services and Case Management, Inc. Both agencies accommodate clients without insurance by enrolling them in a program called Safety Net. Safety Net is a state funded program that covers behavioral health treatment for the uninsured.

Clients enrolled in the CJL Program are referred by their attorney (public defender or private attorney). Most of the clients referred into CJL have Criminal Court Cases and are eligible for probation.
Most clients who become involved with the criminal justice system due to pending charges have a mental illness get referred and their case is reviewed for eligibility.
The Crisis Stabilization Unit at Memphis Mental Health Institute accepts walk-ins daily. They will evaluate the client to determine the level of need. If the client presents unstable and willing to receive treatment, they will be admitted and assisted in becoming stable on psychotropic medications. Follow-up treatment can be obtained through the following agencies such as: Alliance Health Services, Case Management, Inc., and other community agencies.
Lakeside Behavioral Health Systems and Delta Specialty Hospital accepts walk-ins in their intake department. They will evaluate the client to determine their level of need. If the client presents as unstable and is willing to receive treatment, they will be admitted so they can get stable on psychotropic medications. The Mental Health Services Coordinators assist persons by linking them with mental health outpatient treatment in the community as well as resources (Alliance Healthcare Services, Case Management, Inc., etc.) The Mental Health Services Coordinators also assist with the release in court and schedule follow-up appointments with the participants to begin monitoring and establishing needed services. The Mental Health Services Coordinators monitor and provide status reports to the courts regarding the persons’ compliance/noncompliance with established services. This helps the Judge determine If the case will be dismissed or prosecuted.
