1. What is the COVID-19 Resident Relief Fund Program?

The COVID-19 Resident Relief Fund Program is funding that was made available to assist Shelby County residents who work in the hospitality and airline industry and have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

2. What type of assistance does the COVID-19 Resident Relief Fund Program offer?

The program offers three (3) categories of relief:

• Rent/Mortgage Assistance- by working with residents to make direct payments to landlords and mortgage companies. Each resident can receive up to $1,500 in assistance based on need.
• Utility Assistance- by providing direct payments in the amount of $500 to MLGW on behalf of approved residents.
• Food and Essentials- by working with local grocery stores to provide $300 in food and essentials for approved residents.

3. What is the eligibility requirement to access these funds?

A person working in the hospitality and airline industry looking for assistance must be:

• A resident of Shelby County, Tennessee.
• Able to show proof of residency.
• Able to show proof of loss of qualified employment or at least 50% of earned income of qualified employment as of March 11, 2020.
• Must have a current household monthly income at or below 400% of the Federal Poverty Income Guideline (see guideline below).
• Able to meet additional criteria as outlined by the specific relief offered.

Qualifying jobs within the Hospitality Industry include:

• -Baristas                                            -Waiters/waitresses (restaurants)
• -Bartenders                                       -Hotel personnel (housekeepers, front desk services)                                      -Entertainers (musicians, actors/actresses, singers)
• -Concierge                                        -Caterers
• -Cooks                                               -Event planners
• -Flight attendants                             -Cruise ship attendants
• -Catering assistants                         -Hosts/hostesses (restaurants)
• -Travel agents                                  -Busboys
• -Casino personnel (dealers, front desk services, waiters/waitresses, etc.)

5. How can I apply for funding?

6. What is the timeline for response after my application has been submitted?

The application will be open and available for residents to apply for assistance beginning September 11-25, 2020. After the application closes on September 25^th, residents will be notified within 5-10 business days regarding the status of their application.

7. What if I have applied for utility and rent/mortgage assistance through the Community Services Agency (CSA)?

If you have already applied for services through CSA please call 901-222-4212 for an update on your application status.

8. What is the response I should see when I hit submit?

After submitting your application along with supporting documents, you will receive an email informing you that a representative will contact you in 5-10 business days after the application closes on September 25, 2020.
