[ARCHIVED] Home Fire on Oakden Lane

At almost 7:30 pm this evening, The Dispatchers of the Shelby County Fire Department started a “full assignment” to reports of a home on fire in southeast Shelby County. The homeowner (and caller to 9-1-1) reported that the car in the attached garage was on fire. The first engine arrived in six minutes to find the garage heavily involved with fire and smoke threatening the remainder of the 2,881 square foot home.

In all three engine companies from the SCFD and one from Memphis Fire responded to the call and the 18 fire fighters successfully knocked the fire down keeping the majority of the damage confined to the area of the garage. Smoke damage to the main areas of the home is extensive and the homeowners are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross for shelter and clothing. The majority of the belongings of the home owners will be able to be salvaged.

No residents or fire fighters were hurt during this call and the cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
