MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Thursday, Shelby County Commissioners and Mayor Lee Harris held a luncheon downtown to celebrate 100 years in business for the iconic Memphis cafe, The Arcade Restaurant.

Founded by Greek immigrant Speros Zepatos in 1919, The Arcade has now expanded to its fourth generation and boasts the title of being Memphis’ oldest family-owned cafe. 

Over the years, many Hollywood films such as The Firm, Walk The Line, The Client, and Mystery Train have filmed in the iconic restaurant.

“For 100 years, half the life of our vibrant community, The Arcade Restaurant has stood stoically,” says Shelby County Historian Jimmy Rout. “The Arcade has withstood The Great Depression, endured WWII and war rationing, persevered during our civil rights struggle, and survived urban renewal. The Arcade is the ‘grand dame’ of the neighborhood.”

The Arcade will host its 100-year celebration this Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with special menu items priced at 100 cents for 100 years in business. 

A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
