MAYOR HARRIS ANNOUNCES NEW LEADERSHIP AT WORKFORCE INVESTMENT NETWORK

A new WIN Executive Director and Deputy Director have been appointed.

Memphis, TN - Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris announces a new Executive Director and Deputy Director of the Workforce Investment Network. Kyla Gutierrez Guyette has been named Executive Director of WIN. John Moore has been named Deputy Director. These appointments represent a renewed focus on workforce development in Shelby County.

“Economic development is dependent on a community with workers who have the skills that employers find in-demand. That is why we are prioritizing the work of WIN and vocational training as a way to invest in our workforce,” says Mayor Lee Harris. “Bringing on proven leaders Kyla Gutierrez Guyette and John Moore will help set even higher expectations for what we can do to give our citizens the tools they need to succeed in today’s workforce.”

Ms. Gutierrez Guyette comes to Shelby County Government from Florida where she was the Regional Director of ResCare Workforce Services. She brings years of experiences in developing individuals with the skills needed by the region’s employers.

“I am both humbled and honored to be selected to lead WIN for the Greater Memphis region,” says Ms. Gutierrez Guyette. “I have devoted my career to discovering best practices for improving the economic stability and growth of communities. I could not be more excited to bring a spirit of innovation and excellence to Shelby County helping this region to both reach our potential and put us all on a path to long term economic vitality.”

Mr. Moore will serve as Administrator of Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships. He spent more than a decade either leading or advising the Greater Memphis Chamber.

“I am grateful to Mayor Harris and the Workforce Investment Network Board for allowing me this opportunity to help make a difference in in the lives of our citizens,” says Mr. Moore. “I’m looking forward to working with all of our partners to meet the needs of our employers and help people acquire the skills to secure good paying jobs.”

Ms. Gutierrez Guyette will begin in her role March 6th. Mr. Moore began earlier this month.

The process of transferring WIN as an asset of the City of Memphis to Shelby County began in July.
