In commemoration of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW), April 8-14, 2018, the Shelby County Crime Victims Center is hosting its 24th Annual Crime Victims’ Rights Awards ceremony to raise awareness about crime victims’ issues, rights, and resources as well as honor local champions of crime victims.
At the event, the Crime Victims Center will honoring three individuals or organizations in advocating for expanded support and services to individuals and communities impacted by crime. The three categories of awards to be distributed include (1) Criminal Justice Professional of the Year, (2) Victim Service Professional/Organization of the Year, and (3) Victim Advocate of the Year (presented to a community member).
The ceremony will be held immediately following the 9:00am Memphis & Shelby County Domestic & Sexual Violence Council’s Race Against Sexual Violence 5K (https://racesonline.com/events/race-against-sexual-violence-5k) at Shelby Farms.
Media are invited to attend both events, which will be attended by victims and their family members as well as members from law enforcement and the victim advocacy community.
Shelby County encourages widespread participation in the week’s events and in other victim-related observances throughout the year.
