Shelby County Corrections Center Inmate Walks Away From Work Detail

March 6, 2018

Law enforcement agencies are searching for a Shelby County Corrections Center inmate who walked away from a trash detail this morning.

Corrections officials say just after 10 o’clock, Jodie Pope, 24, who also uses his middle name “Jodie Mansie,” left his trash crew at the Bill Morris Parkway exit ramp at Riverdale. The crew supervisor says Pope escaped through some bushes.

Pope is serving a six (6) year sentence for robbery. He had no in-custody disciplinary issues and had completed a behavior modification program that made him eligible for the work detail.

Jodie Pope is black, stands 6’1, and weighs 190 pounds. He was last wearing blue jeans a light blue shirt with yellow letters SCDC across the back.

Anyone with information is to call Crimestoppers at (901) 528-CASH (2274).
