A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Shelby County by the National Weather Service.
Sleet and snow are predicted for the area early tomorrow and will continue through the day.
“Director Bob Nations and his staff at the Shelby County Office of Preparedness are monitoring this latest winter weather threat. They're staying in close contact with the National Weather Service and the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency,” said Shelby County Mayor Mark H. Luttrell, Jr.
The sleet and snow could be falling in Shelby County by early tomorrow morning.
"Unfortunately, this could be during rush hour, which could make for extremely hazardous driving conditions," said Director Nations.
"Our Deputies will keep the Shelby County Office of Preparedness updated throughout the day about the road conditions," said Shelby County Sheriff Bill Oldham.
Shelby County Public Works crews are also prepared. "Salt and sand trucks are loaded and ready," said Shelby County Public Works Director Tom Needham.
