Mission


The mission of the Children’s Bureau is to serve the community by:
  • Protecting the community
  • Upholding the dignity of the law
  • Working with delinquent, unruly, and dependent and neglected children

Goals & Objectives


The chief probation officer, assisted by a deputy chief probation officer, is responsible for supervision and coordination of all components of the Children's Bureau in accordance with the policies and directives of the court.

Services & Programs


The Corrective Services Department, under the direction of a manager and three supervisors, is responsible for the supervision of three probation sections that include traffic, truancy, and community service responsibilities.

The Protective Services Department, under the direction of a manager and a supervisor, is responsible for screening all complaints alleging children to be dependent and neglected, abused, or abandoned. This department makes nonjudicial dispositions and referrals to other departments of the court or to other child welfare or law enforcement agencies as necessary.
