  1. Britney Thornton was elected to represent District 10 on August 4, 2022. She has been a Community Organizer as well as the Executive Director of JUICE Orange Mound since 2016, she a passionate young leader committed to improving the quality of life in her community. Her passion for people keeps her advocating for change. She is a strong believer in the power of collective thought and action!

    She attended the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. She served as a GRI Intern at the University of Pennsylvania where she worked with incarcerated individuals three months pre-release and three months post-release to provide them with a full continuum of care, and after a better understanding of their needs, completed a discharge plan that is submitted to the Defender Association and presented to the DA and judge, who determines whether or not the client is approved for early release. To date, she has had four clients that have been released and all of them have enrolled in the Community College of Philadelphia.

    As the On-Site Director at Duke TIP, she worked at the Texas A&M University site overseeing over 200 academically talented and gifted students who took advanced summer coursework, and academic and residential activities.  As an EFL Teacher at the Chakkam Khanathan School of Lamphun, a well-known government school, Britney taught over 1000 Thai students to learn the English language.
