Functions of Proper Record Management

Proper record management not only conveys organizational and managerial benefits, it is also a vital task necessary for fulfilling important legal requirements and duties. The Chancery Court Clerk has an important responsibility to preserve Chancery records. Proper record management will ensure our records are preserved and can be found when needed.

Accessing Case Records

Active cases are housed in the Minute Room and may be viewed any time between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm.

The Minute Room clerks pull archived (closed) cases twice daily, at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, for review. Archived cases should be requested before arrival. You may contact the Chancery Court Minute Room at (901) 222-3900 Option 2 to make arrangements. Cases will be held for five days. New files are not available for checkout, they must be viewed on site; however, copies can be purchased for the following:
  • Certified copies: $5 plus $0.50 for each page
  • Regular copy: $0.50 per page
