Release Assessment (Jail)

Responsibilities & Services

The Jail Release section exists to release qualified individuals from jail on non-financial conditions as expeditiously as possible, to insure those individuals appear at all court settings, and to provide the court with objective information to be used in determination of surety/monetary bonds.

The Jail Release section interviews individuals after arrest to gather background information. This information is used in conjunction with arrest histories to determine conditions of release from custody for the offender. This section operates on a 24-hour basis and has authority to release qualified misdemeanor offenders on non-financial conditions. Information is gathered and presented to a judge or judicial commissioner who sets bail on felony  cases. Qualified offenders may be released ROR (Release on Recognizance) and supervised by Pretrial Services pending disposition of their case.
