Responsibilities & Services
The Bureau of Personal Health Services provides ambulatory, primary, and preventive health care services to a large population through innovative staffing and a network of strategically placed clinics. The clinics offer a full complement of services including:
  • Dental services
  • Immunizations
  • Family planning
  • Nutrition programs
  • Prenatal counseling
  • School health programs
 
Personal Health Services is also the research and educational arm of the Health Services Division. For instance, a study of Lyme disease associated with ticks was conducted with the University of Memphis, while a new mothers study was undertaken with the University of Rochester

Programs offered in the community or through the public schools teach citizens how to be well and stay well; give information about family planning, infant care, nutrition, and home and auto safety; and conduct outreach efforts for the homeless and those whose lifestyles put them at risk.
