Requirements / Restrictions
All pawnbrokers operating in Shelby County are required to obtain a Pawnbroker's License (below) from the county clerk. The petition for a pawnbroker's license must be accompanied by:
A CPA's unaudited statement regarding net assets (must have $75,000 readily available to use in the business)
Certificates of good moral character from appropriate law enforcement agency for each person listed in the petition
Non-refundable fee of $50 in certified funds or cash payable to the Shelby County clerk
Proof of good moral character (citizen certificate and oath) for each person listed in the petition
