                                                                     “Season of Remembrance”

On Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, Shelby County District Attorney General Amy Weirich and staff will host the third annual “Season of Remembrance,” a memorial to lives lost in Memphis and Shelby County due to homicide or criminal acts.

The memorial service is open to the public and will be held in the City Council Chambers at Memphis City Hall at 125 North Main.

A reception and check-in for families will begin at 5 p.m. in the Hall of Mayors followed by the memorial ceremony at 5:30 p.m.

Families of homicide victims are asked to bring an ornament in honor of their loved one, regardless of the year in which their life was taken. These ornaments will be placed on wreaths and will be displayed inside the Hall of Mayors throughout the holiday season.

“We want to publicly acknowledge the importance of each life lost to violence,” said General Weirich. “Not one of these victims should ever be forgotten.”

Speakers will include special guest Pastor Keith Norman of First Baptist Church Broad and Theresa McCusker, director of the district attorney’s Domestic Violence Unit.

The program also will include pop gospel singing group Personal Praise.
Nick Kenney of WMC-TV Channel 5 will make welcoming and closing remarks.
All citizens are invited to attend and to visit the display during the holidays.
