New Phone Numbers for Shelby County Government Offices

August 25, 2011

New Phone Numbers for Shelby County Government Offices

The new phone exchange for all Shelby County Government offices will soon become 222.

“Going to the new phone numbering system will save $70,000 a year in phone line usage fees and make it easier for citizens to contact us,” said Shelby County Mayor Mark H. Luttrell, Jr.

County employees will also be able to reach each other faster through the new system.

There are more than 8 different exchanges for county offices which include 545, 377, 379, 544, and others.  222 will take their place starting next month.

The first phase will involve 800 phone numbers at the Shelby County Health Department during the week of September 16th-18th. On October 7th-9th, 3,000 numbers at the Shelby County Justice Center and Shelby County Administration Building will be switched to the new 222 exchange.

The final 1,500 numbers will be converted November 4th-6th at the administrative offices at 1075 Mullins Station Road and other county bureaus throughout the east Memphis area.

During the change, callers will be routed to the new county government numbers, which will be published in the 2012 Blue/White/Yellow Pages.
