Section Mission
The Environmental Sanitation Section is a regulatory inspection program that focuses on the protection of the general public from risks that could lead to illnesses or outbreaks associated with insanitary conditions found in facilities frequented by the general public. The program is comprised of two major components:
- Food Inspection Program - This program includes the inspection of restaurants, retail food stores, day care centers, temporary events with food vendors; investigation of food-borne illness complaints and outbreaks; and administration of complaint investigations, plan reviews, permit approvals, suspensions, and permit fee collections.
- General Inspection Program - This program includes the inspection of swimming pools, hotels / motels, tattoo and body piercing establishments, coin-operated laundries, barbershops, institutions, personal care homes, organized camps, funeral homes, and the administration of complaint investigations, plan reviews, permit approvals, suspensions, and permit fee collection.
Local and State laws mandate all inspections and permit fees.
