Fetal & Infant Mortality Review
The Fetal and Infant Mortality Review Program (FIMR) goal is to decrease adverse birth outcomes for women and families. We review medical records for every fetal and infant death in Shelby County and send a social worker out to talk with those families who experienced a loss. Our staff is made up of a team of four, a nurse, social worker, clerical support, and a director. We also work with the community to review specific cases and develop recommendations, which leads to policy and programmatic change. FIMR has over 100 volunteers working together to decrease fetal and infant mortality in Shelby County.
