Recommended Nutritional Values
Eating a well-balanced diet is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. This includes eating from all of the main food groups. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Pyramid, a 2,000-calorie balanced daily diet would look like this:
  • Fruits: 2 cups
  • Grains: 6 oz. (make half of them whole grains)
  • Milk: 3 cups
  • Meat and beans: 5.5 oz.
  • Vegetables: 2.5 (vary your vegetables)

Additional Healthy Diet Tips
The U.S. Department of Agriculture recommends that you:
  • Check the nutrition facts label to keep saturated fats, trans fats, and sodium low
  • Choose beverages and food low in added sugars
  • Limit solid fats such as butter, margarine, and lard
  • Make most of your fat sources from fish, nuts, and vegetable oils
