Commissioner Heidi Shafer was elected to the County Commission in August of 2010. Heidi grew up working on the family farm in Nebraska, and graduated from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska, with a bachelor's degree in education.

Following college, Heidi moved to Memphis to teach at Christ the King Lutheran School. After getting married and the birth of her daughter, Heidi has served on many boards and committees at school, church, and in the community.

Commissioner Shafer has worked for two Fortune 500 companies, and is currently the chief marketing officer for the Flinn Clinic, handling government affairs, compliance, and public relations. She is responsible for growth of the bottom line for all eight offices and other business interests and joint ventures.

Heidi's goals as a county commissioner are to fight for efficient and effective government and for a reduced tax burden on families and businesses in Shelby County.
