Commissioner Matt Kuhn was appointed to the County Commission on February 23, 2009.
He is a product of the Memphis City School system and is a graduate of Christian Brothers High School. Matt graduated from the University of Evansville with a degree in Political Science and History where he served as SGA President. He received his Masters in Political Management from the George Washington University.
Commissioner Kuhn currently serves as the Senior Director of Franchise Development for Lenny's Sub Shops in Memphis, Tennessee. He has served as campaign manager for several senior members of the U. S. House of Representatives, Tennessee Gubernatorial candidates and state legislative candidates and the Mayor of Nashville.
He served in the United States Senate as a legislative aide and in the U. S. House of Representatives as legislative aide and Director of Special Projects for U. S. Rep. John Tanner from 1994 to 1999. Upon returning to Memphis, Matt was employed by Leadership Memphis as the Director of the Inside Memphis program. Commissioner Kuhn was appointed the CAO of the Juvenile Court Clerk's Office in 2001. He is a past Treasurer and Chairman of the Shelby County Democratic Party.
Commissioner Kuhn resides in Germantown with twin daughters who attend kindergarten at Shelby County Schools and is an active member of Germantown United Methodist Church.
