Commissioner Wyatt Bunker was elected to the Shelby County Board of Commissioners in the August 2006 general election to represent District 4.
Mr. Bunker is a graduate of Kirby High School and the University of Tennessee at Martin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. He is the vice-president of sales for Jimmy Moore Leasing where he oversees automobile and equipment leasing. Commissioner Bunker has emerged in local politics as a conservative leader that brings energy and creative ideas to the commission.
First elected to the Shelby County School Board in 2000 and re-elected in 2004, Mr. Bunker resigned his position on the school board when he took office as a County Commissioner. In 2004 he was one of nine statewide recipients of the National School Boards Association's Outstanding Service Award. That same year he also became a Level V Master School Board Member, the highest certification attainable. Mr. Bunker has been designated a Lifetime Member of the Shelby County PTA and has served as a member on the board of directors for Teen Challenge of Memphis. He is a reserve officer with the Collierville Police Department.
Mr. Bunker is married to Meredith and they have a daughter named Breleigh. They are members of Bellevue Baptist church.
