 Application for Appointment to Elected Office
 

The Shelby County Board of Commissioners is currently accepting applications for the office of County Commissioner, District 4, Position 3. On Monday, February 23, 2009 at 1:30 p.m., the County Commission will elect an interim County Commissioner to serve until the next countywide general election. Applicants will be interviewed on Wednesday, February 18, 2009. Below are the qualifications for holding office.

    1. TCA § 5-5-102(b) requires County Commissioners
      (a) reside within the districts they represent and
      (b) be qualified voters in that district
       
    2. Shelby County Charter § 2.03C requires County Commissioners
      (a) have attained the age of 18,
      (b) be registered voters in the district they seek election on the date they file their nominating petition, and
      (c) be residents in Shelby Counmty for at least one year prior to the election.

Please complete both the Application for Appointment to Elected Office and the Authorization for Release of Personal Information/Background Information Form and return by fax (901-545-4283, ATTN:  Lynn Ford) or by mail (Shelby County Board of Commissioners, ATTN:  Lynn Ford, 160 North Main Street, Suite 450, Memphis, TN 38103).
