2008/05/27 - Mayor Wharton Creates Committee to Monitor Essential Services for Impact of the FY2009 Budget Cuts

Mayor Wharton Issues Executive Order to Form Committee to Monitor Essential Services for Impact of FY2009 Budget Cuts

May 27, 2008
In his Address to the Shelby County Commission Budget Committee for the FY2009 budget, Mayor Wharton said:
"As you will see in further detail, layoffs; new employment policies; an extended
hiring freeze; employee buyouts; no funding for expanded services; deep cuts
and job eliminations in law enforcement and the administration; and our
continued focus on streamlining services are a part of the roadmap to the
     balanced budget we're presenting today."

In order to insure proper services after these cuts, Mayor Wharton has issued the following Executive Order.

  • Order Creating a Committee to Monitor, on an Ongoing Basis, the Delivery of Essential Services by Shelby County Government and to Track the Effects of Budget Cuts Incorporated in the FY2009 Operating Budget (View the full Executive Order)
