Mayor Wharton Makes Change To His Executive Staff

Robert White Named Replacement for Executive Assistant
Sybille Noble As She Transitions To MCS

Memphis, TN. -  Mayor Wharton today promoted staff member Robert White, Advisor to the Mayor, to succeed Sybille Noble as Executive Assistant. Ms. Noble has resigned to accept a position as the new Chief Contracting Officer (CCO) for Memphis City Schools.  Mr. White will oversee the new Core Cities Initiative and Land Bank Department, Shelby County Housing Authority, Prisoner Re-entry and serve as the County representative for Operation Safe Community.

Mayor Wharton said "The depth of Bobby's knowledge and expertise in government at the federal, state and local levels and involvement in community programs that have a direct effect on our citizens make him well-suited for this new role. Since his arrival to Shelby County government, he has exhibited the ability to bring creative solutions to the complex challenges we face, leveraging his experience in the public sector for our community’s benefit."

White started with the County earlier this year.  A 2007 graduate of Leadership Memphis, White was introduced to public service as a student organizer for Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson.  Following graduation from Morehouse College, he was inspired to work as an inner-city high school instructor before accepting a position with the advance team for President Bill Clinton.  White later served for an extended period as Executive Assistant and District Director with the Office of U. S. Representative Harold Ford, Jr.  As the former Community Relations Manager to Bishop G. E. Patterson, White has among other focuses been heavily involved with projects that partner the faith and civic community.

White said "I've always viewed government as having the distinct responsibility of being accessible and amenable to the people it represents.  The logical tie-in is that we must always be extremely sensitive to the needs and aspirations of those we serve.  I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the Mayor, county government, and the people in this capacity, and look forward to working on many of the strategic initiatives of this administration."
