Steve Stamson, Clerk of Court Juvenile Court of Memphis & Shelby County steve.stamson@shelbycountytn.gov
"Children are our business and families are our concern"
The goal of the Clerk's office in 2007 was to continue to function efficiently and effectively, to respond to the needs of the community, and to generate revenue through collection of court ordered fines and fees to offset the cost of court operation.
In 2007, the Child Support Services Division at Juvenile Court increased their staff from 205 t0 245 to meet the ever-increasing child support cases processed through the Juvenile Court. The resulting significant increase in petitions filed through the Clerk's Office for establishment, enforcement, genetic testing and all other related child support issues has created constant increased workloads and demands within the Clerk's Office operation, which have been successfully met and processed efficiently.
In 2007, the Clerk's Office secured a grant contract with the State of Tennessee for a third consecutive year in the amount of $755,585.00 for "service of process" in all Title IV-D child support cases. This grant shifts 66% of the total cost of finding eleven (11) fulltime positions to the State leaving the Clerk's Office budget responsible for the remaining 34%.
The Juvenile Court Clerk's Office and staff will continue to serve the public to the best of our ability with proven effective leadership, accountability and integrity.
