The Shelby County Agricultural Extension Service is a partnership between Shelby County Government, the University of Tennessee, Tennessee State University and the United States Department of Agriculture.  Its function is to help the diverse population of Shelby County adapt to a rapidly changing society and improve the lives of families and individuals through an educational process that uses science-based knowledge.  The focus is on issues and needs relating to agriculture and the environment; management of natural resources; food safety, quality and health; family stability; economic security; and youth development.  To view the current calendar of events, CLICK HERE.
 
The Shelby County Agricultural Extension Committee  is appointed by the County Mayor and confirmed by the County Commission.   It is task with overseeing certain funds from County Extension appropriations.
