Who Must File A Notification?
Persons involved with the removal of Regulated Asbestos-Containing Material (RACM) during facility renovation and/or demolition must file a notification with the Pollution Control Section. Notificiation is required for removal, renovation, and/or demolition if the amount of asbestos involved will total the threshold amounts (260/160/35) in a calnder year. Notification to Pollution Control is required of any demolition (including intentional burning) even if there is no asbestos present.
Non-friable asbestos containing materials, packings, gaskets, resilient floor covering and asphalt roofing products that when dry, cannot be crumbled, pulverized or reduced to powder by hand pressure require a Courtesy Notification only with the exception of transite. All activities involving transite require notification.
