 Health Department Announces the
Fifth Case of Novel H1N1 Virus in County

Memphis, TN. -  The Memphis and Shelby County Health Department has received confirmation from the Tennessee Department of Health laboratory of the fifth case of the novel A H1N1 virus in Shelby County. The specimen is from an adult.

The Health Department is continuing to conduct active surveillance to be aware of any increases of influenza-like illnesses in Shelby County or in the region. As a reminder, citizens should continue practicing good hygiene including washing hands frequently with warm, soapy water, coughing into their sleeve or a tissue, throwing the tissue away immediately, and staying at home if experiencing flu-like symptoms.
