The Juvenile Court and County Clerk's office and Public Works Department cannot get equipment or office supplies without the Division of Administration and Finance. Fiscal control and saving tax dollars by good management all fall under this division. And the more than 6,000 hardworking permanent employees hired under Civil Service regulations or elected by the people to run Shelby County Government couldn't get paid without Administration and Finance.

So while this division of county government offers few direct services to the public, Administration and Finance serves the needs of those who serve Shelby County. Major departments of the division are Finance and Purchasing. In addition to its other duties, Administration and Finance works as advisor or staff to various boards, commissions and committees.
