Commissioner Henri Brooks invites the citizens of Shelby County to this First Annual Faith Based Community "Know Your Government Day." This program, which is free to the public, will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Cannon Center located at 255 N. Main Street. Please register by October 6, 2008. The theme of this inaugural event will be Transforming Government to Meet Human Needs.
The events will begin with a complimentary continental breakfast followed by the opening plenary session. The morning speaker is the Honorable Mayor A C Wharton. The day will culminate with the afternoon session including lunch and workshops focusing on but not limited to education, prisoner re-entry, slum and blight initiatives, healthcare disparities, and government navigating. Pre-registering is strongly suggested. Registration closes Wednesday, October 8th. |
