The Tire Recycling Center opened for business on July 1, 2003. Its operation has been successful in meeting the goals and expectations of Shelby County Public Works Division.

Every day our community generates between two and three thousand tires that must be disposed of properly. The Tire facility is open five days a week from 8:00 to 5:00. It is located at 3000 elvis Presley Blvd. Tire dealers and consumers of large numbers of tires must pay a tipping fee to dispose of their tires.
 

Tire Disposal Policies

   Tires must be off the rim
   Tires cannot be muddy, full of debris, etc.  
   Counted accurately for each passenger, diesel or tractor tires  
   Each customer is responsible for unloading tires  

 

 

 


Billing Procedures - Tipping Fees:

With TDEC Manifest and Valid TDR Identification # - Tire Dealers:

   Passenger tires (equal to approx. 20 lbs.) = .30 cents per tire 
   Diesel truck tires (equal to approx. 100 lbs.) = .75 cents per tire 

 



  
Without TDEC Manifest Form - Private Source or Used Tire Dealers:

   Any size tires = $100.00 per ton                             




**Four (4) passenger tires, per residence, are accepted at no cost.**
